The Federal Court of New Jersey has ruled that it is illegal to sell unapproved prescription drugs without a prescription. But the FDA's own research shows that the drug is actually safe and effective. According to the FDA, only about 20% of the prescriptions for Viagra, Cialis, Levitra, and Stendra are written by patients who actually have health insurance.
That is why many are buying drugs at a rate of four times higher than the price they would be charged to a pharmacy in the United States. This is to get a discount on prices that are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration. In fact, even a three-month supply of Viagra (which is sold under the brand name "Sildenafil") can cost more than $15 per prescription. The FDA warns that this "may be a risk to public health."

Erectile dysfunction
A review of the medical literature
In 1994, Dr. Jones published "The Pharmacologic Basis of Therapeutics," in which he summarized the current knowledge of pharmacology, the most common treatment for erectile dysfunction, and the basic pharmacology of a drug:
Physicians often learn about the drug's mechanism of action, its dosage, the side effects, and other medications to improve their ability to treat their patients. The most common side effects include headache, flushing, back pain, muscle aches, and upset stomach. Some patients experience chest pain and diarrhea. The most common side effect is headache, but this can be reversed by using a different type of medication or by switching to a different drug.
Physicians also are encouraged to discuss possible drug interactions with other medications and supplements. This information is often included in the prescribing information for a drug.
In some cases, prescribing physicians may order drugs in the mail, a form of direct mail, or at a hospital pharmacy. The patient may not have any questions about the medication, or the dosage, or the time of the prescription. Some patients may also have difficulty getting their medications in person, which can be a problem for patients who have insurance.
Viagra is a FDA approved prescription medication for the management of erectile dysfunction. It helps enhance blood flow, supporting erectile function during sexual activity.

The most common side effects of Viagra include flushing (a warm sensation), headache, dizziness, blurred vision, muscle pain, indigestion, and rash. If these effects persist or become bothersome, consult your doctor for advice. They may adjust your dosage or suggest an alternative treatment.
